Development Technician

What is the best part about working in forestry?

The freedom to spend my work hours surrounded by nature while being constantly challenged both physically and mentally with everyday providing a new opportunity to learn and grow professionally and personally.

What’s your favourite spot in the Kootenays?

Depends on the season: Ainsworth Hot Springs or Lightning Strike Cabin in Stagleap Provincial Park are winter favourites, while hiking to Gwillim Lakes or the swimming hole on the Salmo River in my backyard are summer favourites.

What is your favourite tree species?

Western Larch is my favourite tree species. They are so unique in that they act as a deciduous conifer turning vibrant orange and yellow in the fall lighting up the Kootenay hillsides.

600 year old  Bristlecone pine in Utah.

What’s in your lunch box?

2 litres of water, 2 very delicious sandwiches, some homemade snacks and fruits/veggies pretty much an everyday lunch for me ( sandwich flavours vary from day to day) let’s not forget the granola bars I have stashed in various pockets of my vest.
