companies include Atco Wood Products Ltd., Springer Creek Forest Products Ltd., Tolko Industries Ltd., Kalesnikoff Lumber
Co. Ltd. and Stella-Jones Canada Inc. These companies are all holders of the Innovative Forest Practices Agreement (IFPA)
that cooperatively administers projects within the Arrow TSA as a single body.
Since the inception of the Arrow IFPA in 1998 the 5 forest companies (or their corporate predecessors) have focused
innovative practices within a 2 pronged approach:
1. Development of a Sustainable Forest Management Framework, and
2. Investigation of activities that will result in maintenance and enhancement of the current annual allowable cut in the TSA.
The original Forestry Plan for the IFPA was drafted in 1999; and under this strategic direction projects averaging a total of
$750,000/ year were carried out until 2004/ 2005, at which time funding sources became more restricted.
In December of 2006 the AFLG submitted a Forestry Plan Amendment and application for an AAC uplift that lead to the
Regional Manager of the Southern Interior Forest Region release of the "Rationale for the Increase in Allowable Annual Cut
(AAC)- Innovative Forestry Parctices Agreements" for the Arrow Timber Supply Area. - effective January 1, 2008. The
September 2011 amendment to the Forestry Plan provides an updated review of circumstances that support an extension of
the AAC uplift in the Arrow TSA.
